Catalyst 03: Mobility and Connectivity

The Car is not going anywhere. It is time we started to accept the position of Cars in our midst as a considerable part of our Urban Environment. But the real question is how much of importance do we offer to it in relation to people and its intrusion of our associations with our Urban Environment. This is also integral for any new or progressive modes of mobility and the infrastructure mankind might invent. The Lab chose to investigate the various urban associations we have around our own  School of Planning and Architecture (Graduate and Undergraduate) campuses as the predominant anchors on the edges, the Vikas Minar Tower and various institutional bodies in between. Can we create an Urban Institutional District? What is the role of the car in shaping such a district? How do we as Urban Designers respond to the intrusions the car creates in our daily interactions with the Urban Environment?
